| Model Tyra considered breast reduction surgery
The US model Tyra Banks once briefly considered breast reduction surgery. However, she couldn't stand the idea that her boobs might be left scarred. The former Victoria's Secret model and US TV personality had to tape down her C-cup bust when she started modelling - because her chest was bigger than the norm for models. Appearing on CNN last night, Banks revealed, "When I was a fashion model, a high fashion model - this was like 15 years ago - certain designers would bind my breasts down with Ace bandages. It didn't fit the clothes. They made clothes that were a certain size and it didn't fit in my chest." She briefly toyed with cosmetic surgery but thought better of it when she realised she could be scarred for life. She added, "That's (cosmetic surgery) something I've thought about.
The Mall gets a facelift
LAHORE: The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) has started renovation of 38 buildings on The Mall as part of its bid to preserve the citys heritage. The authority has also decided to remove excess billboards from the road, PHA officials told Daily Times. The buildings to be renovated include those damaged in last years protests against the blasphemous caricatures of Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) published in some European newspapers. The last time the PHA took such an initiative was seven years ago when it repainted 59 buildings. However, those buildings were only painted, not repaired. The new restoration project is being undertaken in collaboration with a private paints company (ICI). ICI has contributed Rs 2.5 million and the PHA has contributed Rs 1 million for the project.
Understanding your cat
Some cat behaviors are unmistakable: An arched back and hissing means the cat doesn't want to be messed with. A twitching tail (short, quick movements) and pricked ears demonstrates your cat is extremely interested in something. Sometimes our cats' behavior may be puzzling. Here are a few ideas to help us communicate better with our cats.Q: Why does my cat rub herself against my legs or knead me with her paws? A: Leg rubbing is a way for cats to mark the household, including their owners, with pheromones produced by glands in their faces. Even though we think cats are anti-social, they find comfort in the "group odor." Cats might also rub because it often leads to being petted. Behaviorists aren't quite sure why cats knead, but it's obviously a comforting behavior.Q: What else can my cat's tail tell me? .
Aniston loves her nose job
NEW YORK - Yes, Jennifer Aniston got a nose job -- just not the kind of nose job you'd think an actress might get. "It's funny. I had (a deviated septum) fixed -- best thing I ever did," she says, confirming her recent rhinoplasty in an interview posted Wednesday on People magazine's website. "I slept like a baby for the first time in years. As far as all the other (rumours), as boring as it sounds, it's still mine. All of it. Still mine." She's hinting at recent tabloid speculation that she underwent plastic surgery to get breast implants. .
Why love goes wrong
I took post-doctorate studies at Harvard a few years ago and, as part of the course work in Adult Development, my classmates and I shared our life stories. All five of us had experienced marriage. But one had divorced after 12 years of marriage and another, after 22 years; one was childless, the other a single mother. A third had just reconciled with her spouse after a long separation; she was childless but had adopted two difficult boys. The fourth one was married but childless for 22 years. I remained the only one married with kids. The last to speak, I was hesitant, wondering if my story would sound so different and be interpreted as boastful. I said rather quickly and softly that I counted myself of good fortune to have had a most supportive husband and two lovely, well-behaved teenage children (then aged 18 and 15).
